The WWE 2017-18 Season Awards
First published 11th April 2018
Well well well, what a weird figurative year for WWE. We've had some great stuff and we've had some down right terrible stuff. But I guess it's the time of the year I try and condense the WWE main roster from Raw after Mania 33 to Mania 34 via awards. Let's go.
Best Moment Of The Year - Daniel Bryan announces he's medically cleared to wrestle
Bryan is my favourite wrestler of all time, and it was felt among most that Bryan would leave WWE as soon as his contract was up to try and wrestle once again on the independant scene. Well we needn't have worried as WWE doctors finally cleared Bryan for in-ring competition again and it was the happiest moment of the year for me. On that Smackdown where Bryan took bumps and started attacking Owens and Sami gave me goosebumps. Welcome back!
Worst Moment Of The Year - Jinder Mahal wins the WWE Championship at Backlash
I have no idea what WWE were thinking this year. Jinder Mahal was, and still is, very plainly a mediocre to bad wrestler. Not only that, but he has no charisma, he cannot talk on the mic, to the point where you can tell how scripted his promos are. To me it's unforgivable that the WWE chose to put the WWE Title on him and keep it on him for the majority of the year. I stopped watching WWE apart from PPVs because of this, after several years of being a loyal weekly viewer as the product kept getting better, this was a horrid realisation that the company is still out of touch. It didn't helo that the Orton/Mahal feud was agony to watch as well.
Best PPV Of The Year - Royal Rumble
It had to be. These awards usually almost always go to WrestleMania, that usually has recency bias towards it, but not this year, Royal Rumble knocked it out of the park this year, with the first ever Women;s Royal Rumble and the Men's Royal Rumble being such a blast too, the show came back to the standard it should have always been at. Although the other matches around the rumble matches weren't anything amazing, the rumbles really made the whole show shine.
Worst PPV Of The Year - Battleground
God almighty, the card sounded horrendous and the matches were even worse, the return of the Punjabi Prison match was the worst offender along with the return of The Great Khali for a one night appearance. So bad it wasn't even worth watching.
Best Debut Year - Elias
Elias came to screens on Main Roster during the Superstar Shake-up, the second week into the figurative year, and although initially a little lack luster in NXT, Elias has really made a name for himself on Main Roster. Unlike all previous musical gimmicks, Elias actually has some great musical talent. The work he puts in to make his segments on each Raw memorable is astounding, recently on a Edge and Christian podcast he said that he sits and writes a song for every town they go to, that along with the extent he will go to continue his character outside the ring, like going to open mic spots, which was seen in New Orleans for WrestleMania 34. Another staning out point for Elias is the fact that he doesn't use the guitar as a gimmick weapon like most guitar wielding superstars. Elias is mainly a segment and entertainment character for TV, but he is good in-ring, he just needs some more chances to show that.
Superstar Of The Year - Braun Strowman
Let's just think about the year Strowman has had. At last Mania he was only in the Andre Battle Royal, not even winning. In between that time Strowman feuded with Reigns several times, with some of the best segments such as tipping over the ambulance and other amazing goofy feats of strength. He was in the Summerslam Main Event and shone. Turned face and was cheered unanimously, made it to the end of the Survivor Series Match and took out Triple H. Was in the Universal Title match at Royal Rumble. Completely slaughtered in the Elimination Chamber Match. Paired with Alexa Bliss in the Mixed Match Challenge, not only being comedic and making a fun storyline, but adding another layer to his character, softening it slightly, so when in came to WrestleMania, he could pick a 10 year old boy from the crowd to be his tag partner and win the tag team championships with him to 'Awww's. It almost sounds like this guy is the perfect person to be your figurehead. Everyone loves Braun Strowman.
Underutilised Star Of The Year - Rusev
It's just starting to get some traction behind it but Rusev has been a superb performer for years, and this year he fell off majorly. If it wasn't for his talent he would be in a hole right now, but the later part of this year has been a god send for Rusev. With 'Happy Rusev Day' getting majorly over and being paired with the entertaining Aiden English, it seems Rusev may be on the up again. Sadly he was pinned by Jinder Mahal at this years WrestleMania, but hopefully this can be rectified in the coming year. Oh and HAPPY RUSEV DAY!
Woman Of The Year - Asuka
It is about time Asuka got to Main Roster. To be plainly honest if she wasn't in NXT for the previous years Asuka would've been winning this award every year. She debuted around midway through the year but Asuka has been great. She won the first ever Women's Royal Rumble and she had an amazing match with Charlotte at WrestleMania (even if I don't fully agree with the way her streak has ended). Definitely deserving of this award.
Team Of The Year - The Usos
The Usos have had a phenomenal year. Although their heel turn and thug-ish gimmick change weren't done this year, the Smackdown Tag Team Championship title reign that happened this year along with their amazing feud with The New Day has properly made The Usos stand out more than any other team in the WWE this year. The Usos solidfy themselves as one of the best teams in the industry today and prove the doubters wrong.
Heel Of The Year - Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
Yes, I'm cheating, but these are my damn awards. They get a joint award because they spent most of their heel runs this year together, and although Owens has been a superb heel since debuting in WWE, Sami Zayn has really broken his character mold by being the ying to Owen's yang on screen. It's hard to imagine that either of these two being as successful as they were this year, as heels, without the other one their, so I'm making the executive decision to have joint winners this year.
Face Of The Year - AJ Styles
AJ has been face all year and he hasn't lost a beat from his heel run from last year. It was a seamless transition from heel persona to his face persona and has been consistently great since. Overall faces have been very lack luster this year, Finn and Seth both were fun babyface but the booking for all these guys have been a little under par, but after this WrestleMania it looks like it is on the up.
Best Moment Of The Year - Daniel Bryan announces he's medically cleared to wrestle
Bryan is my favourite wrestler of all time, and it was felt among most that Bryan would leave WWE as soon as his contract was up to try and wrestle once again on the independant scene. Shock Of The Year - Jinder Mahal winning the WWE Championship at Backlash
Shock the year isn't mutually exclusive to being a positive thing. Read Worst Moment Of The Year for more.
Match Of The Year - Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs Triple H & Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania 34
Wow, just an amazing match from start to finish, not a beat was missed when it came to this match, completely enthralling the whole time. It was more on the 'sports entertaining' side of WWE but it didn't hinder the quality at all. This is where Triple H shines in my opinion and it's clear that Ronda worked her ass of to make her match super memorable. Don't forget that Angle and Steph brought out surprising performances too. But the highlight of the match was the short inter-gender section between Triple H and Ronda. This match did not have any right to be this good but it was. Match of the night, and match of the year.
Feud Of The Year - The Usos vs The New Day
In my Fluffie Awards from the end of 2017 I had Owens and Zayn vs Shane McMahon above this feud between The Usos and The New Day. But since that point the feud has become infuriating. Shane McMahon acted like a heel consistently and expected to be cheered, and the feud only came around when Bryan was cleared to compete again. Here with The Usos and The New Day, the teams have had several classic matches with each other back-to-back. Not forgetting the amazing promos between the teams. Truly career defining for both teams, something to be remembered for years to come.
So that's it for this year, let's quickly shout-out a couple of things, The Usos vs New Day at Hell In A Cell and Summerslam were very close to winning MOTY, most of Smackdown's tag division matches were all very stellar. 205 Live got no mentions here, because the division had been in the toilet for the majority of the year. But ever since the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament started on the lead-up to WrestleMania the show has been absolutely amazing. Buddy Murphy has been an amazing stand-out that would've gotten Best Debut Year if he didn't debut so late. As such Murphy and Kalisto put on an amazing match on 205 Live that was nearly a MOTY contender. Rollins and Balor had a fairly decent year, Rollins and Ambrose had a great run as The Shield again, such a shame that Ambrose got injured, Rollins vs Ambrose would've been a great Mania match-up. Balor hasn't been pushed back to the heights of the Universal Champion yet and this year since returning at the beginning of last year has kinda been floating around the upper midcard of the Raw roster. Sadly I think this year was extremely weak for WWE Main Roster, for the majority of the year we had Lesnar as Universal Champion, who hardly ever appeared, an idea that worked a number of years ago with the WWE championship, but not anymore, and the WWE Title on the most boring and incompetent wrestler in the company. Couple that with AJ and Owens' feud being surprisingly mediocre and the IC belt being round the waist of Miz who didn't get to have many stand-out feuds and matches, meant the tag division shined the brightest, but didn't wipe the bitter taste in our mouths that we didn't get enjoyable singles runs from our favourite wrestlers.

The WWE 2016-17 Season Awards
First published 24th May 2017
It's that time of year again, yes it is time for me to give my own personal opinion about WWE figurative year, from the Raw after Wrestlemania 32 to Wrestlemania 33. Now I started doing these back in the years where NXT was growing and now it is a much more substanial brand with it showing up Main Roster most of the time, it has been a debate of mine about if I want to start including NXT in the WWE awards, but I think my conclusion has come to that this will stay as Main Roster only and I will probably start a new award blog for an actual End Of Year Awards as my viewership of wrestling has extended a huge amount over these past few years.
But let's get on with the 2016-17 Season Awards:
But let's get on with the 2016-17 Season Awards:
Best Moment Of The Year - The Hardy Boys Return at Wrestlemania 33
I think the biggest pop from me this year was the surprising and amazing return of Matt and Jeff Hardy, off the back of their best run since Wrestlemania 25 the little boy in me wept with joy as I watched two of my all-time favourite wrestlers take to the ring. The return is even more surprising when you realise the two had been in another ladder match for ROH Tag Team Titles the night before against best team in the world The Young Bucks. Truly WONDERFUL!
Worst Moment Of The Year - Roman Reigns entering at number 30 in the Royal Rumble
"Could it be Finn Balor!? He is back! He returned on a house show last week! Maybe it's Samoa Joe, I'm ok with that too, he isn't on the card and he needs to look more like a monster. Maybe it's someone INSANE like Kurt Angle or something, he is gonna be in the Hall Of Fame. Oh..oh here we goo! 5..4..3..2..1...
For fuck's sake."
Best PPV Of The Year - Wrestlemania 33
This year I was adamant that we would get another PPV which would be better than Wrestlemania but alas the instant classic that was 33 has blown everything else out of the water, maybe it was the fact that 32 was a lack luster and disappointing event but this years card was stacked to the brim with great bouts including Styles/Shane, Rollins/Triple H, Tag Team Ladder Match and even the heart breaking Reigns/Undertaker all made the event what it was. Though I do think it would be unfair if I didn't shoutout some of the runners up which all would've won the award by themselves if it wasn't for the year being so stacked of great PPVs, Battleground and Survivor Series, as well as most of the Smackdown Live exclusive PPVs.
Worst PPV Of The Year - Roadblock
A PPV where nothing was good and everything was mediocre, and overall most of the RAW exclusive PPVs were the same, but they all had one good match, Hell in a Cell had Owens/Rollins, Clash Of Champions had Roman/Rusev, Fastlane had Neville/Gallagher, sadly Roadblock didn't have one of these.
Best Debut Year (formerly Rookie Of The Year) - Alexa Bliss
Looking back at this award, especially last years winner Kevin Owens, it felt unfair to be calling these already pre-made stars 'rookies' so I thought a better way to state it was the Best Debut Year, someone who debuted on Main Roster in this year and has made the biggest impact and the best run.
There were a couple no-brainers you could've put here but all of it unfair to me, Finn Balor should have had this award but his shoulder injury that took him out for the rest of the year after his debut a month before made it impossible for me in good conscience give it to him. We had Baron Corbin who had a good year but not great, he also debuted at Mania 32, and if we're sticking by the rules that I have for this (which we should) that means he debuted last year. So the only person left I feel is worthy of having this award is Alexa Bliss. Someone who's potential was so obvious in NXT but never capitalised on enough, here on Main Roster though, she made the Smackdown Live Women's Division worth watch every week. Her matches with Becky Lynch, Mickie James and Naomi have all been good, entertaining matches and she has been the most entertaining women on the whole Main Roster. I think she will be known to be cornerstone of this resurgence in women's wrestling in a decades time.
Superstar Of The Year - AJ Styles
It's har to put anyone else in this spot and it might be hard for AJ to be toppled of this award in the future too. His debut last year was my shock of the year but because he was only around for 3 months I didn't feel it fair to give him a shot here, but thi year he has proven and cemented himself as the best wrestler in the world period. Some may argue that his Bullet Club replacement Kenny Omega is better in-ring but I don't believe there is anyone better overall as a wrestling performer than AJ Styles right now. Sone od his highlights this year include, some stellar matches like Roman Reigns at Payback and Extreme Rules, Having one of the best feuds of the year with John Cena, winning the WWE Championship etc. It couldn't go to anyone better.
Underutilised Star Of The Year (formerly Superstar who needs a push) - Luke Harper
I've decided to change the name of this award because I think the previous name was just a bad name, and this new name more correctly describes what I'm looking at, someone with potential who is getting little to no air time and has potential to do something great.
So there is a couple of obvious choices like Cesaro, but his teaming with Sheamus and before that the Best Of 7 series aloud him to have some kind of push and be on Raw every week. I'm more looking for some one who had opportunities, pulled it out of the bag and then didn't get a push because the company decided not to take it further. I think the best example of this has been Luke Harper, he was always considered the best out of the 3 other members of The Wyatt Family and this year has shown it once again. His feud with Orton and Wyatt has allowed him to look like a major contender in the WWE Championship, and in my personal opinion he should've been in the Mania match making it a triple threat and probably not a bad match. I think in the next year Harper should get the IC or US belt once again, hell give him the Money In The Bank! I think he is 100% worth it.
Woman Of The Year - Alexa Bliss
Let's be honest here, I'm sure some of you think any of the Four Horsewomen, especially Charlotte maybe deserves this more this year, and I think you could have an argument their, but Charlotte has never stuck out to me as the best of the four, Sasha has been in a dull maze of booking and Bayley had poor handling since debuting on Main Roster, the closest to winning this is Becky Lynch who is a great face but not as good as Alexa is Heel. Alexa has completely blown the rest of the women out of the water.
See Best Debut Year for more
Team Of The Year - The New Day
For a second year running I have to give this award to The New Day, this year however it is kind of a sad reason why. In a company where we have some of the most gifted wrestlers and teams in the world, no team really had a stand out year in my opinion. Even with teams like Cesaro & Sheamus, The Club, American Alpha, The Usos and Breezango, none of them got a chance to shine more than The New Day who's year was fairly dull also. They did break the all time Tag Championship record and that is truly commendable especially as they didn't get boring throughout. But with the Smackdown Tag division basically being non-existent and Raw's being mediocre it's hard to be excited about anyone winning this award. Let's hope this next year is a bit better.
Heel Of The Year - AJ Styles
AJ Styles had been known for not being a good talker back in the glory days of TNA, and even though that was such a long time ago it was still an opinion lots of people had. But if it wasn't for his microphone work AJ Styles would not have been the best heel this year. AJ had a subtle gimmick of just being 'Best in the World' he never really needed to stoop low to underhanded tactics like Seth Rollins did a year earlier, the subtle nature of the gimmick with the attitude of 'No one can dispute I'm the best because I am' made the whole character convincing and layered.
See Superstar Of The Year for more
Face Of The Year - Chris Jericho
This was a hard one for me, I always seem to gravitate towards heel superstars as some of my favourites, but of the short period that Chris Jericho was face this year he did a superb job. He was mainly heel throughout the year and it was probably his best run for a long time, but I had to give the award to AJ, but he was also a great face considering how short a time period he was one, the feud with Kevin Owens was probably the second best this year and it wouldn't have been half feud it was if it wasn't for Chris Jericho. Seth Rollins was a close competitor for this but his face run had been dull and full of dick and poop jokes until the build for his Mania match which was one of my favourite feuds of the year also.
Shock Of The Year - Goldberg defeating Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series
I went into this match with no enthusiasm, I didn't hate Goldberg I actually quite enjoyed him on Raw, but I didn't think he was going to be very good in-ring, especially against Brock Lesnar, someone who I haven't really enjoyed since Mania 32 when he had a bad match against Dean Ambrose which should've been a barn-burner. But when I watched Goldberg beat Lesnar is such quick and cpnvincing fashion I completely lost my mind, the idea that WWE would book this match the way they did was an insane concept and it was one of the best parts of this past year
Match Of The Year - AJ Styles vs John Cena at Summerslam
This year was full of amazing matches, most have been over looked due to the sheer amount of amazing matches from other companies as well. My personal favourite coming from NXT and their tag division. But as main roster goes my favourite had to be AJ Styles vs John Cena at Summerslam, a purely amazing match that made the long show into something truly enjoyable. Some other matches that deserve a shoutout, Owens/Zayn at Battleground, Men's Survivor Series Match, Balor/Rollins at Summerslam, Both Styles/Reigns Matches, Styles/Cena at Rumble, Styles/Shane at Mania, HHH/Rollins at Mania and Ziggler/Miz at No Mercy.
Feud Of The Year - AJ Styles vs John Cena
It is kind of hard not to give this feud the award as it basically span the whole year and will probably continue into next year. The subtle story of 'TNA guy' vs 'WWE guy' has been a dream match among many for a long time and unlike previous 'dream matches' where they never lived up to expectations, this match did exactly that and on more than one occasion. Promo wars every week on Smackdown and matches every other month allowed it to be the most compelling feud of this year.
See Match Of The Year for more
And that's it for this year, something I think need shouting out from this year but I didn't get a chance too, The Miz's Talking Smack promo on Daniel Bryan, Miz has had a great year including the Dolph Ziggler feud he had. Chris Jericho has had the best run of his career this year and his pairing and subsequent feud with Kevin Owens has been another highlight of this year.

The WWE 2015-16 Season Awards
First published April 4th 2016
Another year and another round of awards for the figurative WWE season. That’s right I’m back to give you my thoughts and awards on the best and the worst of WWE this year, for the 3rd year in the row. If this is the first one you’ve read the awards are determined between the Raw after Mania 31 to Mania 32. Let’s get right into it.
Best Moment of the year – Kevin Owens beats John Cena in his debut match at Elimination Chamber
For me I hadn’t been so happy with a match and an outcome in a long time. Seeing Kevin Owens, being someone who embodies the kind of guys I like and support against the face of the company, the embodiment of the WWE’s perfect wrestler and then win was the most ecstatic feeling, it was such a good match and the two guys might not be able to top it for a while.
Worst moment of the year – Roman Reigns wins the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 32
Somehow we managed to fend it off last year but this year there was no escaping it. Vince wanted his new samoan golden boy to be the next big star and he wanted that main event win at Mania. I don’t care about Reigns, and hearing by the poorly turned down boo’s of the AT&T Stadium I don’t think anyone else does either.
Best PPV of the year – Night Of Champions
For the first time during these awards WrestleMania doesn’t win this award, buytI don’t think any PPVS truly deserved the award, there were no real standouts instead just standout matches. So I’ve picked the PPV that had the better card of matches, none of these matches I hated too much, with a double Rollins main event I guess it couldn’t have gone too wrong.
Worst PPV of the year – WrestleMania 32
I really didn’t wanna do this and maybe it’s just the sour taste it’s left in my mouth since this is the morning before and maybe it’s because it was supposed to be the best PPV of the year but Mania this year has really felt like a disappointment. Some matches were good, like AJ/Jericho, Women’s Title Match, IC Ladder Match and Shane/Taker but the winners of most matches were the wrong ones, and the rest being terrible matches too. The only two winners that felt good for me were Ryder and Corbin. Let’s hope I don’t feel like this with next year’s Mania.
Rookie of the year – Kevin Owens
Sure the word Rookie isn’t great (as I realised when JBL and Jericho kept saying it about Styles) but it’s really all about the best wrestler who debut and Main Roster this year and made the biggest impact, and no one did it like Kevin Owens this year. Owens came out with a big mouth and an attitude ready to chop down the the face of the company and US champion. Since then has made Main Roster interesting to watch, let’s hope he’ll be around for a long time.
Superstar of the year – Seth Rollins
After WrestleMania last year Seth Rollins became THE MAN, not only did he carry Raw most weeks but he kept putting on great matches and great stories, it’s a shame he missed this years Mania through to injury, the year he should’ve definitely Main Evented. I have no doubt in my mind he deserved this.
Superstar who needs a push – Neville
Debuted the night after Mania 31 but nothing really happened since. Sadly one of the most gifted wrestlers in the company right now is being treated as a mid-carder when he should be getting more exposure and more time. It looks like through Ryder’s win at Mania that Neville if he didn’t get injured may have actually got his first Main Roster title and a decent push. Maybe it makes Ryder’s win a little bittersweet.
Woman of the year – Sasha Banks
Although the Women’s division has gone through some highs and lows this year, it’s fair to say it’s come out better for it. I could’ve given this to Charlotte as she has been Divas & now Women’s champion and given the most air time but I believe she’s been off and on all year, meanwhile Sasha Banks, with little we’ve seen of her, she has been stellar every time. So Sasha this is to you and lets hope you continue for the next year and the years afterwards.
Team of the year – The New Day
NEW DAY ROCKS, New Day’s debut wasn’t the greatest start but they adapted to their criticisms and came out as a better team for it. Arguably the most entertaining part of Raw for a couple of months and the best and legitimate heel team for a long time until turning back face through sheer fan cheers and applause over their wild and funny antics on Raw every week. No other team have come even close to them this year, they fully deserve this.
Heel of the year – Seth Rollins
For a second year in a row, Seth Rollins once again is the best heel of the company, being the forefront of most Raw’s and playing the ‘chickenshit’ heel perfectly. Want more? Read Superstar of the year.
Face of the year – Dean Ambrose
Just like last year, Dean Ambrose has become the one wrestler who gets cheered no matter who is on the other side of the ring, something that Vince wishes his former Shield brother Roman Reigns could have. Dean has been backed by fans all year, always teetering on the edge of the championship gold, with screwy finishes, it always seems to be just out of Ambrose’s reach. Something we the fans gravitate towards just like we did with Daniel Bryan. Hopefully WWE will finally come to their senses and replace Reigns’ push with Ambrose and we can finally see Dean with the title.
Shock of the year – AJ Styles debuts at the Royal Rumble
There had been rumors for weeks before hand about AJ Styles and if he would truly be coming to WWE. The idea felt impossible, the TNA original stepping foot into a WWE ring? Would he be going to NXT or Main Roster? AJ was possibly the biggest star, behind Sting, who had never stepped foot in a WWE ring, so when he turned up as number 3 the crowd at the Rumble and every fan at home jumped out of their seats and screamed at the top of their lungs.
Match of the year – Kevin Owens vs John Cena, Elimination Chamber
See Best Moment of the year.
Feud of the year – Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose
Similar to PPV of the year there was no real huge stand out of best feuds just best matches. Luckily we had one feud that will never disappoint in Rollins vs Ambrose, the matches that were involved were great and although it was a short run it was a brilliantly executed one.
That’s it for this years festivities, be sure to stay tuned here and at ThatBlueFluffyBlog for more articles to be released soon. Also tell me your opinion in the comments, thanks again!

5 Feuds WWE Need To Do Before Before WrestleMania 32

Over the WrestleMania Season a lot changes, beginnings and endings of different rivalries and new champions are crowned. Going off these new developments I'm gonna be listing off the feuds I believe WWE should do from this point to the next WrestleMania. I've purposely kept it so I don't use the same wrestler more than once, I could easily list off wrestlers to go against Bryan, Rollins or Lesnar but that is not creative and fun. With this list I've chosen each wrestler specifically to see a great feud unfold and ultimately end up in great story telling and awesome matches.
1. Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns
Probably the biggest match every WWE fan wants to see. Ever since the break up of The Shield our appetites have been wetted by the idea of a Triple Threat Match, and even before the break up lots speculated as far back as WrestleMania 30 that this match would happen. We had some teasing in the form of great feuds between Rollins/Ambrose, and Rollins/Reigns but the next step is to really show these three face off for the biggest prize in the company. As things stand now it looks out of reach, Ambrose being in the IC Title picture and Reigns promptly demoted after the backlash fans had on him but I think over the year building these two to go for the title would be great television. Keep Rollins on top most of the year and then have Ambrose and Reigns finally meet again when building for this match. For the most part these two have continued to be friends but when it comes to the championship they shouldn't care and just keep battling each other. The three have great ring chemistry, especially Rollins and Ambrose with their feuds constantly being re done in new promotions just like Zayn vs Owens. At the very least though I wouldn't mind any variation on this match, if it be another Rollins/Ambrose or a Ambrose/Reigns, I'd be interested in any, but WWE have to be looking at the triple threat as the one huge match for all three men.
2. Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler
We've seen that these two love to fight against each other over the past couple of years, every time they get to fight it is a spectacle. Just before this years WrestleMania we saw these two try and campaign for another feud leading up to Mania. WWE obviously liked the idea but wanted more people involved so had both men part of a Ladder match for the IC Title. The match was amazing with Daniel Bryan winning the title and finally grabbing his Triple Crown Championship. But now Mania has past it is time for WWE to build these midcard titles again. By putting the championship on Bryan it is already in fan interest so now they need an exciting match to make the title prestigious. It is almost a no brainer to bring in Ziggler. It is what the fans want and what would be best for the championship. As of right now it looks like they are teasing this rivalry soon but Barrett is currently still in the picture and one of the two needs to turn Heel (I say Ziggler). There is a great read about how WWE should book this feud over at What Culture by Mark Riley, it is absolutely brilliant and would get anyone excited about this feud. So come on WWE what are you waiting for!?
3. Neville vs Bray Wyatt
Adrian Neville has just debuted on the main roster of WWE and has already shown how impressive he is to all the none NXT watchers of WWE. NXT fans all absolutely love Neville and believe he is a future WWE champion, however Neville is stuck in a hard spot, he needs a first rivalry that can propel him into the public eye and he needs to come out on top, in comes Bray Wyatt. Wyatt has been in some sticky situations since his Main Roster debut, his feud against Cena was really where his character started to go south but every time Wyatt is defeated the character replies in not caring, he still knows he is better than anyone else and that has kept him in the spotlight even after he loses or seemingly looks weak. Having Wyatt go after a new superstar in Neville would really create an interesting story, maybe Wyatt is jealous for Neville's praise so early on or something along those lines, this also allows a lot of room for Neville to develop his character and become a fan favourite. Sure there are a lot of potential opponents to put in front of Neville or Wyatt but I believe this feud will be something that can be a launching point for both men in there careers.
4. Paige vs Charlotte
As we all sit a mourn the leaving of AJ Lee, we look to NXT to see who will fill her place, well look no further than Flair's little girl Charlotte. Paige has now become the leader of the Divas division after AJ Lee left earlier last year and Paige had to carry the division by herself, now AJ has retired she is now the face of the divas division completely. All Paige needs now is a worthy opponent and Charlotte is the best candidate. These two have been face to face before in NXT but bringing the rivalry to the main roster will be the best decision for the new rejuvenated Divas devision. They both are amazing wrestlers and can truly show up most of the men in a long winded feud and enough time every week to develop it. After this we could see Naomi mixed into the picture against one of these two and then WWE can continue to bring up the amazing Diva talent they have down there. No more Bella's please, we want real women's wrestling.
5. Kevin Owens vs Brock Lesnar
This last feud may be the most fantasy or dream match of them all, it is completely possible for this to happen this year but most odds will point to this happening next year or even two years later. But I yearn for this match to happen. Kevin Owens truly is a force to be reckoned with and so is Lesnar. It won't be too long till we see Lesnar back on top and during that time you could easily see Owens being a completely dominant force amongst the Main Roster. Having Lesnar back on top and being dominant again could lead to everyone and anyone wanting to kick him off the mountain. After several attempts by worthy challengers we could finally see Owens turn up and give Lesnar a run for his money. The high impact and fast paced match could turn into an instant classic and if the title is involved also it could one of the greatest main events of all time.
Honourable Mention: Goldust vs Stardust
We've been wanting this feud for years and years and every time WWE looks like it is going for it, they complete drop the ball and we never hear about it again. The most recent and closest attempt at this match was a feud leading into Fastlane which looked like it would've continued into WrestleMania but after Fastlane it never got picked up again. It has made the whole Stardust gimmick they gave Cody completely pointless and people are sick of it already. WWE NEED to bring this back and finish it with a worthy match and story line, the feud was going so well and it was idiotic of them to stop it.
So there you go, five feuds I believe WWE need to do over the next year, what are your opinions on these? Have you got some of your own? Tell me in the comments, I'd love to start a discussion!

The WWE 2014-15 Season Awards
First published April 7th 2015
Around this time last year I went out and created my awards for the figurative WWE Season. From the Raw right after WrestleMania 29 to WrestleMania 30, This year I’ve decided to bring it back and I’ve had it in mind ever since I created last years. So, from the Raw after WrestleMania 30 to WrestleMania 31, who picked up the awards this year?
Best Moment of the year: Seth Rollins Cashes in his Money In The Bank – WrestleMania 31
I feel like the whole of WrestleMania event was filled with great moments but the best of them all was watching Rollins cash-in and win the WWE Championship. I can’t think of anything else that was better this year.
Worst Moment of the year: Roman Reigns Wins The Royal Rumble
At the time of this happening the whole collective of fans were hugely disappointed in the result. Ever since the elimination of fan favourite Daniel Bryan early on and then watching others like Ziggler and Ambrose get eliminated the fans were against Roman Reigns. There were rumors about his Rumble win months before hand and there were murmurs of doubts from fans, once Bryan returned however we all seemed to be convinced that WWE would rectify the mistake they made last year with Batista by letting Bryan win instead they went forth with intended plans and in the long run ended up giving us the best moment of the year.
Best PPV of the year: WrestleMania 31
Maybe it is the fact that WWE get every other PPV wrong but WrestleMania always seems to be the best event of the year. The event was so full of great moments even when some of the wins went the wrong ways we didn’t care because it was so damn entertaining. For a second year running it looks like WWE have pulled off the biggest show of the year.
Worst PPV of the year: Battleground
I think there wasn’t one stand out terrible PPV this year and most of the PPVs were pretty good, I think the least memorable was probably Battleground. It had a Fatal Four Way match which I don’t even remember and it just ended up starting the build for the next PPV which was far better Summerslam.
Rookie of the year: Paige
Her debut on Raw was the night after ‘Mania where she picked up the title and ever since then she has been carrying the weak Divas division while AJ was away and amazing feuds with her when she was present. She is great in the ring and on the mic and is only matched by AJ. Also she is beautiful.
Superstar of the year: Brock Lesnar
If you told me last year that Lesanr would be the worthy Superstar of the year I would be angry, I didn’t like Lesnar but over this past year with still minimal appearances he has proved me wrong that he can wrestle and he can entertain. He has gained a huge amount of respect from fans who would otherwise hate Lesnar for being a part time wrestler for being amazing this year. No one else can really be the Superstar of the year.
Superstar who needs a push: Curtis Axel
There are alot of contenders for this award this year including people like Damien Mizdow or Bo Dallas but I decided to go with Axel as he got a start of a unintentional push created by himself at the tail end of this year. Although a silly gimmick it could eventually propel him back into bigger stories. But apart from that this year he has done nothing particular so now it is his time.
Diva of the year: Paige
I could give this to AJ but she took a break and Paige carried the division on her back. (See Rookie of the year for more)
Team of the year: The Uso’s
The Uso’s are probably the best Tag Team in WWE right now and if they continue to be as good as they are they could be the team to define this generation of WWE. They have all the qualities I love in teams and they have been the forefront of that division for this year and last. The only reason they got knocked out last year was because of the amazing trio teams in The Shield and The Wyatt Family.
Heel of the year: Seth Rollins
After Payback Seth Rollins turned on The Shield and became heel in the process. From that point onwards he became the heel of the company spitting amazing promos every night with his goonies from The Authority watching his back every week making sure his cocky persona never wavered week after week even if he lost or won with help. Seth really made a name for himself this year, having great feuds and matches with Ambrose just like his NXT days, winning the Money in the Bank, having his own security team and winning the championship at WrestleMania.
Face of the year: Dean Ambrose
Probably the best face of the year being almost the Stone Cold type by doing things a typical face would never do but stays face no matter what. Ambrose is special and it is sad to see that he didn’t make a huge impact this year because his singles career is going well. I’d like to see him in the main event picture by this time next year but lets see where WWE take him.
Shock of the year: Sting debuts in WWE – Survivor Series
Although there were rumors of when Sting would turn up in WWE there never seemed to be a pin point time, so it came to a big shock to fans as we saw Sting turn up at Survivor Series and face of with Authority Leader Triple H to give Team Cena and Dolph Ziggler the win at the event. A great moment that cannot be forgotten.
Match of the year: John Cena vs Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar – Royal Rumble
This match had to be match of the year. It was completely explosive and all three guys looked absolutely amazing. The match couldn’t be any better if it tried and it truly cemented Rollins as a main event player.
Feud of the year: Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt
I’ve decided to add this award this year because I think it would be a great way to highlight some great stories. The best feud this year had to be Dean Ambrose vs Bray Wyatt. It truly was a match made in heaven. The feud felt like a Sherlock/Moriarty angle, it is summed up perfectly with this quote Wyatt gave during a promo for the feud: “Every time I look at you, I can’t but see my own deranged reflection”.
Thank You for reading my WWE Season Awards, I hope you tune in next year and see my opinions then. I’ll list my Honourable Mentions for each category below if you would like to read them.

The WWE 2013-14 Season Awards
First published April 15th 2014
Most people tend to their awards at the end of the year, December or January. For us fans though, the real end of the year is March-April. That’s the end of the imaginary season. It’s the season finale and the season premier and it all happens in one night. WrestleMania. Even though WWE and Professional Wrestling in general never have stops or breaks We treat WresteMania like the end of the year, over one year you can watch your favourite superstar go from the bottom and elevate to the top or even vice versa. This post is to reflect of the past year, from Wrestlemania 29 to 30, and give out awards to the best and worst things of the season.
Best moment of the year: Daniel Bryan comes out on top – WrestleMania XXX
Now this is obvious, but it is also very recent. This has just happened in the past week or so, but this is the moment that we had all been waiting for, the ultimate moment, the year built up to it and it finally came absolutely amazing. I would have picked this same moment but at Summerslam, instead I left that for something else.
Worst moment of the year: Orton Money in the Bank cash in – Summerslam
Our hearts sank. The moment was lost, everyone was mad, we all shook our heads in disbelief. Though at the time of this no one had faith in the WWE it was us the fans who took this worst moment and turned it into the best moment of the year. So even though we went through the pain of this, we got what we wanted in the end.
Best PPV of the year: WrestleMania XXX
Again so recent but honestly the best of the year, it really did become the end of year spectacular, the match card was brilliant and every match was spectacular, yes even the divas match. It’ll be looked on in history for years.
Worst PPV of the year: Survivor Series
There was not one match that anyone was excited for. It was fairly boring build and the Main Event was Orton vs Big Show. So I skipped it. When I skip a PPV you know it must have been boring as all hell. The most disappointing thing about this is the fact it was supposed to be one of the big four events of the year and it just flopped on it’s face and didn’t get any great attention.
Rookie of the year: Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt is the future of the WWE, Bray Wyatt is the gimmick the undertaker was when he first joined the company, Bray Wyatt instils the same energy for me but he is a completely different beast. He isn’t like the Undertaker, maybe in a creepy sense but apart from that he is completely different and unique. Even after all that, Wyatt can wrestle. Like really, he can wrestle good. Watching his matches against Daniel Bryan, Shield and even John Cena, you can see this guy has talent. You know he is talented, I mean c’mon look at who he’s related too.
Superstar of the year: Daniel Bryan
Again most of these are quite obvious and this is no exception, this year was Daniel Bryan’s year and I would not be surprised if the next couple of years were aswell. Daniel Bryan is the definition of the Pro Wrestling buisness, showing that skill and hard work really does work. Amazing wrestler in every sense of the word.
Superstar who needs a push: Dolph Ziggler
This award is more about showing who has talent that wasn’t being used to their full potential. It is no surprise to anyone who’s from the forums here to know that I am a big Ziggler fan. So with that biased opinion Ziggler really should have been pushed this year. Having a program with Big E for the IC title would have been enough, almost like those Christian vs Jericho Ladder match days in 2005-06. Ziggler started the year becoming World Champ and in a matter of months (thanks to a concussion) he lost the push. Let’s hope this year he gets what he should of had last year.
Diva of the year: AJ Lee
Are you kidding? It’s obvious (again) she’s been champion almost all year and a brilliant one at that, we got to see the Black Widow in action which is an A* submission move and we can see that her mic skills (thanks Punk) have gotten superb. Hopefully if Raw was anything to go by this feud with Paige should be the start of something great for her and the Diva’s division.
Team of the year: The Shield
Not only are these guys obviously amazingly talented and have great chemistry together, they have managed to gain a reputation for having amazing matches every time they’re booked. It’s hard for some people to do that now, with the exception of Daniel Bryan. These guys have a bright future, each one of them. This next year should see them have a whole year as faces. I don’t think any fan can get enough of these guys.
Heel of the year: Triple H
Triple H was in hardly any matches this year but from Summerslam on wards his promos and role in the biggest story of the year gives him a good enough reason to be the best heel of the year. Every time he came on screen I hated his guts, well done Paul.
Face of the year: Daniel Bryan
I hate to give all these awards the obvious choices but the whole year has been overshadowed by this whole “YES Movement!” so it’s hard to pick anything. Speaking about the “YES Movement!”, that movement is the whole reason he is the face of the WWE right now. He’s so over that it’s almost a crime to not give him this.
Shock of the year: Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak is broken by Brock Lesnar
Not only was this horrifying but it was sad, very very sad. Every WWE fan, even casual ones, mourned at this defeat. Thank you ‘Taker and hopefully this won’t be that last we see of you.
Match of the year: CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar – Summerslam
I hate Brock, I love Punk. Why did I pick this match as the match of the year where the guy I hate is in it and he won? Because I still remember how I reacted to that match how I felt during the match, my comments etc. There were a lot like that this year but there was something about that one that has stuck with me and I don’t know what it is.
Honorable Mentions
Best moment of the year: Daniel Bryan winning WWE Championship at Summerslam, CM Punk returning at Payback, Dolph Ziggler winning the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw.
Worst moment of the year: The Streak being broken at Wrestlemania, Batista winning the Royal Rumble.
Best PPV of the year: Money in the Bank, Battleground, Elimation Chamber
Worst PPV of the year: Hell in a Cell, TLC, Royal Rumble
Rookie of the year: Big E, The Shield, Sami Zayn
Superstar of the year: C’mon it was always gonna be Daniel Bryan
Superstar who needs a push: Cody Rhodes, Big E, Cesaro
Diva of the year: Again. AJ was always going to be Diva of the year.
Team of the year: The Uso’s, Rhodes Bros., The Wyatt Family, The Real Americans
Heel of the year: Batista, Bray Wyatt, The Shield, Paul Heyman
Face of the year: CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Rhodes Bros.
Shock of the year: CM Punk takes his ball and goes home, Roman Reigns beats Kane’s elimination streak in the Rumble.
Match of the year: Bray Wyatt vs Daniel Bryan, Rhodes Bros vs The Shield, The Wyatt Family vs The Shield (EC)
Well that’s it for this year, hopefully I’ll be here next year to give you my awards again, until then make conversation in the comments!
